Happy New Year!

When my marriage came to an end last New Years Day I put my energies into make a new quilt for my bed.  Up to that point my bed room had been made up of browns and beiges – very male orientated.  My lovely best friend Jo suggested I should make a change.  She is a very pink girl – loads of lovely pink everywhere!  I was not really into pink but we picked out some lovely new bedding and fabric to make a quilt.

It has been a year of ups and downs.  Starting my business and making things I love for people has been a definate high!

I finished the patchwork top in February, but only felt like I had the strength to quilt it now.  Quilting for me, like most quilters, is an emotional journey.  Loads of love can go into quilts, but to me they also carry memories of the time they were made.  For example my sons have quilts that represent the joy of their births because they were made in their first year.

I wanted my new quilt to carry memories of joy not the sorrow I felt.  As a sign that my I mostly feel joy now I was able to start quilting my beautiful quilt!  So here are the pics of the quilt in progress!
